What to call lwhat we do?
Information Literacy because of standards.
How do we get the students to translate what they are learning into different situations?
*Set up at beginning that this works in other areas.
*Get teacher's cooperation to have students prepared
*Take time to check with students individually.
Getting students at same proficiency level.
Online tutorials.
*Captivate to design.
*Teach about specifics to academic library.
*Search Path
Getting away from the demo. Making the experience more interactive.
*Get away from the podium
*Ask questions
Talk for short time and then give opportunity to work with info.
Making this a part of the complete campus.
*Research forums where students can present
*Liaisons mentoring student research
Embedded librarians. On the spot. Going to specific classes. Pick the ones where it would be appropriate and provide most impact. Also in online classes.
*In online added as teaching assistant.
*Attending classes throughout semester to provide point of need assistance.
Working with Writing Across the Curriculum programs.
Gaming. Captivate and Flash to create. Also using things that are available on the Internet.
*Info Lit - UNC
*Library Arcade - Carnegie Mellon
*Think Fast
Interactive activity ideas
*Clickers
How to develop a game.
Set three goals. What do the students need to walk away with. Plan to that.
Using a Think Pad. Makes you mobile. (Interwrite)
Tablet PC
Workshops for faculty? Or grad students?
Other fun activities to get students in to explore the library. Doesn't have to be formal.
