RE: Motivating Employees
Mar 20 2008, 6:21 PM EDT I noticed one thing in the discussion was about getting introverts to be extroverts. Maybe I'm being devil's advocate here, but I don't think you can force people to change this. Being an introvert doesn't necessarily mean that those people don't like dealing with the public. I'm an introvert myself but love working in public services and am quite good at it. However, you have to be sensitive to the fact that those of us who are introverts also need down time away from others and on our own. So balance activities so that this allows for that and you are more likely to get "introverts" involved. Also, consider that there are many different ways people can be involved in things. Finding people's interests, talents, strengths, etc. is always a good idea in motivating them. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Motivating Employees
Mar 20 2008, 6:23 PM EDT While Kudos are a good idea, you also need to be cautious. It's not the best thing for every personality type. When you're dealing with staff, it can't always be a one-size-fits-all mentality and good management will work to find out what is appropriate for each person. Do you find this valuable? |
